KTC Thunderstorms Today | Tamilnadu Ends With 60% Excess Rains | Kerala Flood Hazard :

KTC Thunderstorms Today | Tamilnadu Ends With 60% Excess Rains | Kerala Flood Hazard :

+ Due to wind instability prevailing at mid-levels, Thunderstorms are set to continue in KTC, Vellore, Ranipet, Villupuram today as well.

+ Wind Instability would provide an atmosphere conductive for thunderstorms.

+ Apart from Wind Instability, some of the environmental criterias are too supportive as well, for thunderstorm this evening / night.

+ The CAPE (Convectional Available Potential Energy) value near KTC region during late evening- night is over than 2000-2500J/kg.
+ CAPE energy is like fuel for thunderstorms to intensify.

+ Lifted index well ranging from -4 to -7 and this should be adequate enough for intensification of thunderstorms while nearing the coasts.
+ Lifted index is generally used to measure instability in the atmosphere to determine the thunderstorm potential, so as to help to understand the atmospheric's potential to produce severe thunderstorms.

+ CIN (Convective Inhibition) is around -80 to -60 J/kg favourable for thunderstorms.
+This CIN is like, evlo negative la pogutho, so much will be favourable for rains.

+ Precipitable water content is around 55- 60mm which signifies moisture content in the atmosphere (water vapour).

+ Along with all of the above, we need sulir veyil as usual during day time, for thunderstorms in late evening or night.

+ With today, June month is officially ending for Tamilnadu according to IMD.

+ Meanwhile Kerala and Konkan areas are getting smashed as the monsoon has kick-started and in full force.

+ Usually, we use to avoid visiting hill stations across the Western ghats for the complete monsoon as we can expect landslides during these peak monsoon days.

+ But I would suggest, this is the best time to explore such places. It's not much hazard till Jul 2nd half. So if any hill station plans (Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra), please proceed within next 2 weeks.

+ Chennai stands with +175% excess, Chengalpet with -20%, Kanchipuram with +40% excess, Tiruvallur with +90% excess and Madurai with +70% excess.

+ Overall, Tamilnadu registers +60% excess, as of 29th June 2022.

+ July 1st week also looking to start well with thunderstorms across KTCC (Jul 4-6)

+ As weather updates post is highly requested, I tried to spend some time and delivered. Apologies for the wait, as I came abroad and was in transit process to get settled here. I'll try to share max weather updates during major rain events in India. Hope all understand.

+ This post is meant for self-learning and knowledge sharing. Please follow IMD Official Weather Updates.
