That's it from the rain god. The moisture bucket is almost empty now, all over Tamil Nadu.
Refilling this bucket (only for today) :
Kerala remains constant with the rain till tonight. Some of these Kerala clouds will enter through some gaps of Western Ghats and give some rain over Tamil Nadu Ghat Areas like Pollachi, Valparai, Meghamalai, Manjolai, and Nagerkoil. Some light rains can be seen over delta areas post noon (keep the expectations low for now).
Heat Wave :
As stated in my previous posts, the heat wave is gonna start from today and this will continue for 5 continuous days to a week.
What can we expect.?
* Chennai might record over 42-43°C.
* Vellore, Tiruttani might cross 43°C.
* Ghat areas and it's foothills of TN might see lower temperature with some isolated discontinuous light rain spells (areas like Valparai, Coimbatore, Pollachi, Meghamalai, Kumily, Vagamon, Kodaikanal, Munnar, Theni (might cross35°C with some cool breeze), Nagerkoil, Kanyakumari.
When this heat wave will be normal.?
After the cyclone makes its landfall (20th night-21st morning), it depends on 2 criteria's.
1. The moisture bucket needs to be filled over TN land areas from the Kerala side (through the gaps of WG.
2. Our SST (Sea Surface Temperature) is currently 40°C+. This should reduce atleast till 32°C. This takes some more time. May be 4-5 days after the landfall of Cyclone Amphan over Kolkata.
So we can conclude that the heat wave will continue to blow all over TN, especially North Coastal TN, till this Sunday or Monday.
When will be the next rains for us.?
There are some 3-4 hours of good rain spells by this month end - June 1st week. But this is too early to keep an eye, track and having hope on it. Let us wait for the South West Monsoon to start over Kerala (June 5 expected).
So does it means the heat will continue till June 5th.?
No. Not at all. This heat wave is bcoz of the pull effect from Cyclone Amphan. It will be refilled back to normal with moisture soon as stated above. After a week, we will be back to normal days with 36-37°C and this will gradually reduce and on nearing the arrival of South West Monsoon over Kerala.
Status of Cyclone Amphan :
It's getting into beast mode and it is expected to hit Kolkata and it's suburbs over Coastal West Bengal between 20th night to 21st morning. While it's landfall, wind will blow at the speed of 180kmph. This is gonna destroy the whole West Bengal, especially it's coastal areas. Be ready for a monster attack. Mark my words, this cyclone landfall is gonna be remembered for a decade atleast. The impact will be more than Cyclone Fani of last year.
